(FAQ's)
When
should I call Baron Worldwide?
If you require a written in-home estimate, you should call about 3 to
4 weeks before your move. We generally just ask you to give us as much
notice as you can. Before the moving agent arrives at your house for
your estimate you need to determine what items will be moved and what
will be discarded. Don’t forget to check the attic and basement
and be sure to show your agent everything you will be moving.
How long does an in-home estimate take?
Usually no more than an hour.
Is
the in-home estimate free?
Usually it is free unless you are located in a remote location.
What are my responsibilities?
In brief ...
• Be present during the packing of your belongings.
• Take personal responsibility for jewelry, coin collections,
and negotiable cash.
• Check and sign the inventory of your belongings.
• Ensure that no prohibited items are packed.
So
what can or can't I take with me?
Generally speaking, dispose of all flammable/corrosive/aerosol items,
liquids, foods and other items that should not be shipped. Anything
that can deteriorate should not be shipped. If you have a question about
something, just call and ask.
Anything
that is definitely a no-go area?
Well,
mainly those things you might expect – drugs and alcohol. In many
Middle Eastern countries videos, music and books are examined for censored
materials. Weapons and ammunition importation is not allowed in many
countries. Please check with Baron Worldwide in advance. If shipping
of firearms in permitted, the make, model and serial numbers must be
registered with Baron Worldwide before the move. Shipping certain high
value items or collections may require you to purchase extra coverage.
What about my car?
Many times we can take your car(s), truck or SUV with the rest of your
belongings in the container. If this is not possible, we can arrange
for an alternate method.
Suppose
I pack myself?
Why not – for some items? But be aware of the potential problems.
For instance, valuation coverage will not pay out on goods packed by
their owner. So if you wish to insure the item, don’t pack it
yourself.
How long will it take to pack my goods?
Every home is different but we can normally pack a home in 1-2 days.
Can I leave my clothes in their drawers?
Yes, you can. Just be sure not to leave anything solid that can damage
the piece of furniture. We recommend bundling them in paper.
How am I covered in case of damage?
Your things are covered by valuation. You receive valuation coverage
of 60 cents per pound per article of household goods at no cost. You
may elect to purchase more valuation coverage, which we highly recommend,
by declaring full replacement valuation (cost of replacement at destination)
for your goods. You are charged a premium on the declared amount. The
premiums vary with your type of move.
